The Church Co partnership spurs Pennsylvania church’s digital outreach

“There is not a better deal out there—at least not of what I’m aware of. The people who work there seem to have genuine concern for meeting the needs of the local church. It’s a very comfortable process. I referred The Church Co to a pastor friend of mine in Dallas, who knows nothing when it comes to tech. They walked him through the whole process, which was a major deal. I have really high regard for The Church Co.”

— Kevin Wells, pastor of Family Life Church

The Summary

When Pastor Kevin Wells arrived at Family Life Church seven years ago, the church had a limited Internet presence—just a Facebook page. Wells realized the church needed a website to better engage the community with the good news about Jesus. The Church Co helped them create that website and has walked with the church to ensure the site helps engage the community.

The Problem

With Pastor Wells’ arrival at the church seven years ago, Family Life Church was in the midst of a church revitalization. Most of the church’s members were senior citizens, but the church had a passion to reach a younger generation. Pastor Wells understood that to reach that younger generation, the church needed a compelling online presence — one that effectively communicated to the community what God was doing at the church.

With a small staff, Family Life wanted a simple-to-use website that didn’t break the bank. They couldn’t invest in a complicated system that took hours to administrate each day. Pastor Wells didn’t want to just add another job to his growing list of to-do items.

“We were looking for something simple but would look similar to what some of the larger churches were putting out, so if somebody looks at our website, they wouldn’t decide not to visit because of it,” Pastor Wells said.

The Solution

Pastor Wells first discovered The Church Co through Facebook and began an introductory conversation with a representative of the company. He soon discovered The Church Co understood the unique needs of churches. Having helped thousands of other churches create compelling websites, they had a plan that worked within the day-to-day needs of everyday churches like Family Life.

The plan was simple, yet powerful. The Church Co would build the church an engaging website—one that rivaled larger congregations in the area. Then The Church Co empowered the church to manage its content, giving it all the tools it needed to keep the site updated in minutes.

After signing up with The Church Co, the church had a functioning website for the first time in its history. It soon became a vital part of its effort to engage the community.

The Outcome

Pastor Wells admits that church had a learning curve when it first started working with The Church Co. But the company gently walked with them through the early bumps. The Church Co responded quickly and helpfully to The Church Co’s questions. In time, Pastor Wells says the website helped the church better engage its community.

For example, this past Easter, the church leveraged Facebook ads to invite people to the church. The church then directed prospective visitors to the website to plan their visits.

“I don’t know of everything out there, but I am aware of a lot of [the other website platforms] that are out there because I researched it and listened to what my pastor friends were doing. There is not a better deal out there—at least not of what I’m aware of,” Pastor Wells said. “The people who work [at The Church Co] seem to have a genuine concern for meeting the needs of the local church. It’s a very comfortable process. I referred The Church Co to a pastor friend of mine in Dallas, who knows nothing about tech. They walked him through the whole process, which was a major deal. I have really high regard for The Church Co.”

Pastor Wells estimates that over 80 percent of the church’s visitors in recent years have found it through the website.
